It is said that corporate strategy is an umbrella encompassing all the functional specialties, core competencies, capacities, and capabilities of the firm.It is also said that strategy is the relationship of the internal organization to its external environment.

Discuss one of the following questions in your response:

1. How does a firm seeking competitive advantage determine what their core competencies capabilities and capacities are and then relate them to the competition in the external environment to develop advantage?

2. Why is endogeneity an issue in strategy research? Explain how to overcome this problem and why it arises.

Professor’s guidance: The first question is a practical question for practitioners and the second is a research question for researchers. Both require research but that research differs greatly. In your analysis of the question you choose, consider how that research is different and why this should be so.
