Reflecting on How Film Analysis Applies to Your World [WLOs: 3, 4] [CLOs: 1, 5, 6]
Prepare:
As you prepare to write this discussion, take a few moments to do the following:
- Read Chapters 9 and 10 from the course textbook.
- Review your discussion posts from the past four weeks.
- Attend a Live Learning session.
Reflect:
Reflect on the analysis process and how you have learned to more thoroughly analyze film as well as how rigorous study of film enhances your development as a student and thinker. In this reflection, review your initial post from the Post Your Introduction discussion in Week 1, and consider how your ability to analyze movies has changed or grown. In this course you have learned various skills such as analysis, critique, the elements of storytelling, and now have a greater understanding of the many various roles that contribute to making a film. Thinking beyond film and beyond this course, consider how close attention to detail, understanding how stories are told, and all the nonverbal elements that shape storytelling apply to areas of your life and how they could impact your future career. Your reflection should be personal and exploratory.
Write:
In at least 250 words, write a post in which you
- Describe what can be gained through analyzing film.
- Explain how this course has changed how you view movies.
- Connect the ways in which movies are related to and can impact society.
- Describe how the Live Learning session you attended expanded your appreciation of the skills you have developed regarding both film analysis and beyond.
- Assess the top two skills you have developed during this course, and how those skills might be added to your resume or LinkedIn profile to benefit your future career or current profession.
