Confidence Intervals on One Proportion

Learning Goal: I’m working on a statistics exercise and need the explanation and answer to help me learn.

Using the excel file provided do the following

1.Using the demographics data, construct a 99% confidence interval on the actual proportion of counties whose population is increasing.

2. Using the demographics data, construct an 85% confidence interval on the true proportion of counties considered to be part of a metro.

(Note: report the numbers directly under the “ASE” line and not the one from the Exact test.)

Also solve these questions from the excel file.

3.Lower bound of first confidence interval (Round answer to 3 decimal places)

4.Upper bound of first confidence interval (Round answer to 3 decimal places)

5.Lower bound of second confidence interval (Round answer to 3 decimal places)

6.Upper bound of second confidence interval (Round answer to 3 decimal places)
