Prompt
Imagine that you are a public health director tasked with coordinating an international health literacy intervention. For this intervention, you are being asked to adapt an approach used within the United States (with great success) for a developing nation. You may select the developing nation—but this country must have significantly different cultural values and practices to that of the United States.
For your initial/main post, please address all of the following questions:
Health Literacy Intervention Design (150 words):
- Within the United States: Summarize the features of the health literacy design used within the United States. How did this health literacy intervention uphold the cultural values and practices of the target population or community?
- Within a Developing Nation: How could this health literacy intervention be modified for the developing nation? What features would change? Why? Please explain the connections to cultural values and practices of the target population or community (and how those values/practices may differ from those of the United States).
Health Literacy Intervention Implementation (150 words):
- Within the United States: Describe how the health literacy intervention was implemented within the United States. How did this intervention approach respect the cultural values and practices of the target population or community?
- Within a Developing Nation: Explain how the health literacy intervention should be implemented within the developing nation. What evidence/data would you need to make this decision? How would you gather this information? Please make certain to indicate how implementation reflects the cultural values and practices within the developing nation’s population or community.
