This Dicussion is two parts:
Part One:
For your Project One milestone assignment in Module Two, you drafted a technical documentation project plan for creating and delivering a quick-start user guide. As you continue to shape and refine your technical documentation project plan, it is important to understand the impact your documentation will have on your users. The way you structure and design the document is particularly important.
Graphical elements, such as charts or diagrams, are often found within technical documentation as additional context to help the reader understand what is being said in the text. However, if used incorrectly or inappropriately, graphical elements can cause significant confusion for the user. This kind of situation can also detract from the user-centric writing approach, which can have major effects on the user’s experience with the document.
In your initial post, address the following:
- Explain the appropriate use of graphical elements within technical documentation.
- Identify the adjustments you would make to your technical documentation project plan if you were to incorporate graphical elements in the quick-start user guide.
- Suggest one strategy that technical writers can use to incorporate a user-centric approach, and explain how the strategy is beneficial to users and technical writers.
Refer to the document uploaded on the topic of the discussion and Milestone One assignment mentioned (project plan)
Part Two:
In response to at least two of your peers, address the following:
- Suggest an alternative graphical element adjustment to your peers, and explain why you believe this suggestion would be effective.
- Respond to your peers’ suggested strategies to incorporate a user-centric approach by further explaining why the strategies would be beneficial to users or technical writers, or provide your peers with alternative strategies for them to consider incorporating as well.
