A Critical Evaluation of Export Performance and Exporting Barriers on SMEs: Case Study of Palestine
Those attached drafts are the ones I sent to my teachers. They have comments on the side and inside the texts. Please have a look and consider their feedback to write the draft of the 4000 words. ( Those files are Trad theories feedback 1+2 + and literature review feedback 1 and literature review draft 1). The last file is just the Ph.D. proposal for you to have a look at.
The draft should be about the literature including a whole section of the trade theories.
The teachers are not liking the argument made about the trade theories, they think it’s very basic and simple. They want something in more detail and deep that meets the Ph.D. level.
Some tips for you:
Provide a detailed account of the background of the research and the ways in which it will make an original contribution to knowledge in its specified field of study.
The contradiction/odd observation that both hooks your reader and kickstarts your writing: for example, why some sectors are managing to export despite restrictions supposedly affecting all, – which economic activity and what type SMEs, private/govt owned etc.
Explain which are the core concepts that are relevant to this (this is your core theory).
For example TRADE:
why and how to do firms trade, what are standard trade protections and why are they used

INTERNATIONALISATION STRATEGIES OF FIRMS:
How and why firms internationalise
SMEs:
what makes them different and how have other scholars
explained their strategies and especially their trade strategies and successes
How and why firms internationalise
SMEs:
what makes them different and how have other scholars
explained their strategies and especially their trade strategies and successes
CONFLICT/UNCERTAINTY/RESILIENCE: what are the main concepts, how does a conflict environment make trading and production different, who says what.
For all the theoretical concepts and authors you discuss, it’s important to do two things.1. Show you have mastered the different ideas and views (like in an exam). 2. Explain what are the points that are debated (who agrees/disagrees on what).
Then you can move on to explaining your focus/case of Palestine and some more of the evidence of trade, firms, details about sectors, firms, etc. (use the material you already have and build on it).
Definition of the theories, pros and cons, arguments, Smes between 2 countries, link all this with the topic and other drafts) ( 4- 6 theories)
Please focus on building the argument on each theory with so many key authors, what is so relevant, and what is not. what to agree and what to disagree then come up with conclusions.
