The Text of the essay must be, at least, 3 (Three) full pages in length and should not exceed 4 (four) pages in length. The Essay must be presented in a double-spacing format with Source citations.
The Essay must contain Footnotes or Endnotes and a BIBLIOGRAPHICAL listing of Sources which can include articles as well as books used in the development of the essay. At least 5 (five) Bibliographical sources must be consulted and cited. Only 1 (one) internet and 1 (one) Encyclopedia source can be used. Our Textbook can be used and listed, but not as one of the required 5 (five) sources. Journal and on-line Articles must be submitted for the Instructor approval.
In the essay, preferably in the introduction, students must define, explain and incorporate the following terms: “social science” / or “society” and “progress.” Explain the meaning of the terms as well as their significance and relevance in the context of the essay. Also, discuss whether or how the terms/ideas are compatible.
Students are encouraged to make an outline of their research essay and submit it to the Instructor for discussion, critique and approval. Students are encouraged to consult with the Instructor during the writing process! This will ensure that your research is acceptable and on the right track. Do remember, to include The Term Paper Outline in the final presentation.
The final essay must be presented in a typewritten format, with a one inch margin to the left of the page and a half-inch margin to the right of the page. A font size of 12 is suggested.
Through Footnotes or Endnotes (and a Bibliography), cite the source(s) of information, including quotations, found in the text of the essay. Information to be included in such citations are as follows:
The writer’s name. 2. The title of the work (Underlined or Italicized).
City of Publication. 4. Publisher 5. Year of Publication
The page number (s) from where the information is gathered.
