r your Cultural Project you are asked to chose an event/activity to attend and have it approved by your professor. Once your event has been approved, you are to attend your event. Now, you will need to research the cultural group and write a paper about the event. Your personal observations are very important. Your paper will combine your research with substantial personal observations. If you have the opportunity to interview someone at the event, please do so. You will submit your 800-1000 word final paper for the project which will include references and photos.
Please remember to include the following in your paper:
- Name of the activity/event you attended
- Date of the activity
- Location of the activity
- Racial/Ethnic significance of the event
- Background on the group for which you attended the event/their plight, if any, to arrive in the country you are attending the event (For example: United States)
- What they have experienced, as a group, since arriving
- Detailed explanation of what occurred at the event
- Information you received from people working at or attending the event
- Description about the prejudice and/or discrimination faced by this group currently in the United States and worldwide and your account of it if it was evident at the event
- Most surprising thing you saw/experienced at the event
- Comparison between what you learned about this group in class and what you saw at the event
- Choose one theoretical perspective and relate it to what you learned about this culture in class and at your cultural event.
