I volunteere at my job during my days off. I work at DYRS in Washington DC, which is a juvenile detention center. I volunteered with enrichment programs (you could make uo any) most of the population there is 99% African American.
What I learned is that our African American youth really need guidance (if you could help me word that better please.) They need preventive programs that would step in before our youth see that crime is the answer. (if you could help me word that better) and cite some youth programs you feel would help solve the crime rate in Washington DC.
I volunteered 1 hr a day for 4 days at my job, nonpaid. I worked on the male and female unit.
Feel free to add what else you feel is needed and ask ne any questions
