Topic: The Impact of Online Toxic Communities in South Korea: Examining the Correlation Between Online Toxicity and Mental Health Outcomes and Suicide Rates

This study seeks to understand why mental disorders cause individuals to be vulnerable to homelessness. This study draws data from RAND’s course of homelessness study and the epidemiological catchment area study which are qualitative; they contrast populations of mentally ill homeless persons, non-mentally ill homeless, and the housed mentally ill. The results are that the majority of the homeless as children faced economic and social difficulties However, the mentally ill suffered more in their past in that they also had tumultuous family relationships and violence.
This study shows evidence that mental illness is a factor in causing homelessness but is not the only one. What is more important than programs for the adult mentally ill is intervening in the childhood phases. This evidence is pertinent because it explores the relationship between mental disorders and homelessness. However, a problem with the data is that it is dated, being 20 years old. I like to test the relationship between mental disorders and homelessness using more recent data.
