APA Written Research Assignment for Chapters 1/2/3 – Cognitive Development Theory

First choose a topic of interest that you learned from chapter 1, 2, or 3.    It should be based on something you found interesting, and want to learn more about or would be helpful to your career.

Second, after completing the 2 Library Assignments on Psychology Research and APA for Student Researchers, on APA Style, Peer Review Articles, and how to locate peer reviewed articles through the WC library, locate 2 peer reviewed articles on your topic from the Academic Search Complete Data Base about your topic that you find interesting (see your 2 Library Psychology and APA Research assignments for how to access the data base information sources) from the WC Library.   

  • Explanation:  Provide a brief explanation of your favorite theory of development, ( Theories of development are in chapter one, such as psychodynamic, learning, cognitive, etc.)  Note this is a group discussion and visible to the class). (4 points)
  • Application:  Provide an real life example of your theory in action For example, if you choose learning/observational learning, you could note how young children often watch others and mimic their behaviors, learning wither positive or negative behaviors. (4 points)
  • Scientific Communication: Locate 2 peer reviewed academic journal articles in APA format on your topic from the Library These are known as first source information, because the researchers find the answers and report it first hand. (4 points)  See the library tutorial link and APA resources belowfor more information. These research articles scientifically support your written discussion on your topic and theory application.
  • Empirical Analysis: Provide peer reviewed support for your discussion post on your theory and example Use your peer review articles to support your real world findings and your discussion and provide in-text citation in APA format. (4 points)   For example, in-text citations (Chang, & Smith, 2001)
  • Scientific Communication:  Cite in APA Reference format your 2 peer reviewed academic journal articles in APA format on your topic. (4 points)  For example:  MARWAHA, S., GOSWAMI, M., & VASHIST, B. (2017). This is a multi-purposed assignment.  It develops skills in explaining, supporting, and communicating your opinions with peer reviewed research, and scientific support ( Your observations of behavior with Researched APA peer reviewed journal articles).  This assignment, also, begins the process providing more in-depth researched information with real life examples and application.  It helps you know how to find and locate real researched information, to support, back up, and communicate information you encounter on a daily basis.  It provides you with the skills to detect fake news, and inaccurate information with empirical analysis. 

Discussion length should be about one half to a page in length, in the format of a couple of paragrahs and your APA Reference citations listed below.  The APA in-text citations and APA Reference citations will be the only APA format graded for this assignment.
