Your response must include an argument. Rather than repeating the question, your thesis statement must be specific. Your thesis is not separate. It must be included within your first paragraph.
Evidence: Your argument must be supported with evidence from the primary source readings. You should not use ANY sources outside of those prescribed in the question. Cite your quotations using parenthetical citations. The quotes you use should be short and to the point. Papers in which the quotations take up more space than your analysis will receive low marks. Papers with improper citations will not receive full credit.
Grading: When grading, I will look at the strength and clarity of your argument, the quality of your prose, and the effectiveness of your citations and evidence. Thus, you should not simply use the first example you find that supports your argument; instead, you should scrutinize the texts to single out passages that best exemplify the point your thesis raises. Before posting, proofread your journals, and ensure your entry is formatted into paragraphs. Do not upload a Word document. Instead, type your response in the journal.
