Objective: The purpose of this Assignment is to write a Definition Argument that successfully meets the criteria laid out here and in any Grading Rubric that your instructor is using.
Step One: Read and understand the description of the assignment outlined here.
Step Two: Read in your textbook: “Arguments of Definition”
Step Three: Any questions? Contact your instructor. Uncertain if your thesis statement actually makes an argument? Contact your instructor. Create an early draft of your essay (aim for 500 words or so). Use MLA citation style.
Step Four: 6 Days or more before the final due date, send the early draft of your essay to your instructor and/or to Thinkingstorm. (note: this is not required, but it is a good idea) This is for the web version of this course. If you are taking this class f2f your instructor may have a different timeframe for reviewing drafts .
Step Five: Read the Feedback and incorporate suggestions from your essay reviewer. Complete Works Cited and other revisions.
Step Six: Submit your final version essay ( @ 1,100 words, double spaced please) to Assignment Dropbox for grading.
The first step is to understand the assignment. To that end, students should read CHAPTER 9 (“Arguments of Definition”) in the textbook and this description of the assignment. After reading, students must watch this clip of the Bill Maher show and they must read the article in the USA Today published on July 26, 2022.
