Deliverables and Instructions:

Provide an analysis of the introduction chapter, plus five of the nine chapters from David and Goliath. In other words, while students are required to analyze the introduction, they have their choice to analyze any five of the nine chapters. Yes, you read that accurately; students get to select any five of the chapters – i.e., there are no constraints on chapter selection. Your analysis will include three elements:

  1. Summary. Summarize the focal chapter (150 words minimum).
  2. Quote and explanation. Quote (“cut and paste”) your favorite sentence(s) from the focal chapter; using APA 7th edition formatting include the page number where you found the quote. Explain the quote and tell me why you liked it (quote explanation needs to be 100 words minimum).
  3. Explanation of the main message, whether you agreed/disagreed with the main message and why. Explain the main message for the focal chapter by thinking in “strategic terms” via examples from a business or your own life (100 words minimum). Then, tell me if you agree/disagree with the message, and why (75 words minimum).

Grading Criteria:

80% quality of content – Relevant questions: does it look like you read the chapter? Did your summary cover the key elements of the chapter in the suggested length? Was it persuasive or novel?

10% quality of writing (inclusive of grammar): Is it readable? Does it flow? 10% format – Does the review follow the format?

Points: 100 points possible

Formatting Stylistics: Single spaced; 1-inch margins; 12-point Times New Roman font.
