Read the five research works listed in your bibliography to gain scholarly insights on the central
issue. If your TA indicated that a work in your bibliography was not appropriate for your topic, then
you should replace that work with something better.
3. Research how the stakeholders you identified in your synopsis have approached the central issue.
Your research may involve journalism, government documents, and corporate websites.
4. Write an essay, eight to ten pages in length, that explains the topic and sets our your position.
Defending your position will require sound evidence and a logical argument. Through your
paper, support all your statements with evidence and/or references. You must make
reference to at least five peer-reviewed, scholarly works (articles or books) and/or government
documents.
Try to organize your writing in this order:
– introduce the topic with a brief paragraph
– describe the issue clearly: what is at stake?
– describe the key stakeholders and their explain their positions on the issue
– what criteria or considerations should be used to make a good decision?
– explain your position on the issue; you may agree with one stakeholder
– conclude with a brief paragraph
( Examle of stakeholders are Twitter, Facebook, news media companies)
On the one hand, social media platforms foster the public sphere through participation, information, and engagement. On the other hand, social medial platforms threaten the public sphere by spreading mis/disinformation, interfering in elections, corporate self-interest, etc. Your essay should argue one way or the other.
