Thinking about the long- and short-term consequences of iron-deficiency anemia, this discussion will consider the impact of the federal school lunch program — or a similar program — on at-risk children.
In your initial reply, answer the following four questions:
1. How does iron-deficiency anemia impact the growth and development of a child?
2. What are the consequences of iron-deficiency anemia on test scores and performance in school (consider motivation, lethargy, behavior)?
3. How do these consequences impact a child’s ability to succeed in the future (consider graduation, college, jobs, earning potential)?
4. Share your personal thoughts on the school lunch program as a solution to minimize the effects of iron-deficiency anemia. If unfamiliar with the program, see the “Nutrition at School” section of Chapter 16 of your textbook for a brief description.
Submit only ONE initial reply, number each answer, and write between 100 to 200 words (use Canvas word counter) and be sure to address all four questions in your reply.
