Instruction
How does the artist of this artwork use the principles of design (balance, emphasis, proportion, scale, pattern, repetition, rhythm, variety, and unity) through application of the formal elements?
Examples:
Emphasis (a principle) can be delivered through use of color (an element). A bright red color might be placed in a particular part of the canvas, such as the clothing of a figure, to emphasize that particular figure.
Scale (a principle) can be delivered through shape and space (elements). A larger shape or mass can cover a part or envelop a space/composition.
Pattern (a principle) can be delivered through shape. line, and color (elements). Lines, shapes, and colors can repeat to make a pattern and create a sense of rhythm.
Talk and explain the application of at least two principles of design. Explanations must use information found in Chapter 7 and this module.
Include the title (in italics or underlined), artist name, image number, and page number in your response. If you include an image you must upload correctly or it will not show up for the class although it may appear for you. Call Canvas tech support if unsure how to do this.
Your post must be entered below using complete sentences. 150 word minimum.
