Select a civil engineering project that interests you and that can be
analyzed in economic terms
• Use of tools such as cost-benefit analysis or cost-to-benefit
comparisons are encouraged but not required
• Write about the project’s economic strengths and weaknesses.
Consider economic factors in the planning, construction, and/or
operation of the projectTopic Selection
In trying to decide what topic to select, remember that you will be
writing a thesis about it – a one-sentence statement of an opinion or
hypothesis.
It is not enough to have a personal opinion about a topic; you must
be able to defend the thesis statement with documentation.
