Overview
In this practice activity, you will identify key historical events and their impact on U.S. intelligence.
Prompt
The United States has held changing views of the world, and how we interact with it, over time. Before World War II, America had an isolationist view, which many would argue led to the attack on Pearl Harbor. After that, the United States became much more involved with other nations, observing what happened elsewhere, and monitoring how foreign events might impact our nation. Using the provided template, identify, in chronological order, any 10 key historical events that impacted U.S. intelligence. Then, in 25 to 50 words for each event, explain what the United States could have done differently, in regards to intelligence gathering, that might have had an impact on this event.
Specifically the following rubric criteria must be addressed:
- Identify 10 key historical intelligence events.
- Identify events in chronological order.
- Explain what we could have done differently, in regards to intelligence gathering, that might have had an impact on each event.
