Write a “comparison-contrast” essay on one(1) of the topics below. Your essay should attempt to follow the pattern of a Point-by-Point Comparison (see Patterns pages 374-375) Your essay must also adhere to academic essay structure (introduction paragraph, body paragraphs, and a conclusion).

1.Compare your upbringing to that of Amy Chua’s daughters (“Why Chinese Mothers are Superior”). Were your parents “Western” or “Chinese” parents, or were they a combination of both? In your thesis statement, take a stand on the question of which kind of parent is “superior.”
2.Compare and contrast the lyrics from Sam Cook’s “A Change is Gonna Come” (mentioned in Juan Williams’ essay on pages 397-399) with NWA’s “Straight Outta Compton.” Which song has the most effective social message? Write a thesis statement in which you agree or disagree with Juan Williams’ view that the social message in rap music is “damaging.”
Remember that this is a formal paper, so avoid using casual language.
