Research question
(1) In patients with isolated anterior cruciate injuries after surgical reconstruction, is supervised physiotherapy-guided rehabilitation more effective in improving functional outcomes compared to home-based, unsupervised rehabilitation?
AIM:
The aim of this study is to assess and compare the effectiveness of supervised physiotherapy-guided rehabilitation and home-based, unsupervised rehabilitation in terms of improving functional outcomes in patients with isolated anterior cruciate injuries after surgical reconstruction.
The study aims to evaluate whether the level of supervision during rehabilitation has a significant impact on functional outcomes such as knee joint stability, range of motion, muscle strength, and functional performance measures.
By addressing this aim, the study aims to provide evidence-based recommendations for the most effective rehabilitation approach for patients recovering from isolated anterior cruciate injuries after surgical reconstruction, ultimately improving patient outcomes and informing clinical decision-making.
Objectives:
(1) Compare functional outcomes: The first objective is to compare the functional outcomes, such as knee joint stability, range of motion, and muscle strength, between patients with isolated anterior cruciate injuries after surgical reconstruction who undergo supervised physiotherapy-guided rehabilitation and those who undergo home-based, unsupervised rehabilitation. This objective aims to determine if there are significant differences in functional outcomes based on the level of supervision during the rehabilitation process.
(2) Evaluate patient-reported outcomes: The second objective is to evaluate the patient-reported outcomes, including pain levels, perceived function, quality of life, and satisfaction, in individuals who undergo supervised physiotherapy-guided rehabilitation compared to those who undergo home-based, unsupervised rehabilitation following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. This objective seeks to assess the subjective experiences and perceptions of patients regarding their rehabilitation outcomes and satisfaction with the different approaches.
(3) Compare adherence and compliance: The third objective is to compare the adherence and compliance levels between supervised physiotherapy-guided rehabilitation and home-based, unsupervised rehabilitation in patients with isolated anterior cruciate injuries after surgical reconstruction. This objective aims to determine if the level of supervision impacts patients’ ability to adhere to the prescribed rehabilitation protocols and maintain compliance with the recommended exercises and interventions.
