You’ve been introduced to different elements of the info/cybersecurity concept, strategy, and process, in parallel with frameworks and processes for the adoption of relevant technologies. For this assignment, you’re putting it all together for an organization of your choice, acting as an info/cybersecurity consultant. You’ll need to 1) select an organization to develop an enterprise strategy for (i.e. cybersecurity solution to their “problem” and/or “opportunity”) and devise a corresponding high-level implementation plan. (You know, like a consultant!) You should carefully study the internal systems, supply chain(s), marketing strategy, retail strategy, structure, culture, leadership, human resources, and other key building blocks of the selected organization along with the demands of its external environment. Your strategy and implementation plan document must address the following components:
- Problem statement
- Background (incl. relevant industry background)
- The proposed info/cybersecurity solution (break apart the constituent components)
- The high-level implementation plan, which should include though is not limited to the following:
- Proposed solutions for building an info/cybersecurity culture
- A list of required stakeholders to staff the initiative (incl. roles and responsibilities)
- Technical prerequisites (i.e. what tech does the company need to adopt, if any, and how will that be organized)
- A general outline of the info/cybersecurity process/flow (flow chart or other graphic would be ideal here)
- Alternative approaches to implement the proposed solution, justifying each by assessing using a basic cost-benefit and risk/reward analysis
- Estimated schedule/calendar (e.g. when and how would you implement pieces of the proposed strategy)
- Risks, challenges, and relevant mitigation strategies
Be specific and detailed (i.e. do not simply speak in general terms). All of the above should focus on solutions for the selected organization specifically. And don’t forget the almighty “why?” behind any/everything you write. In other words, be sure to justify your strategy with real-world examples, research, market data, etc.
Your final proposal paper should be 7-10 pages long in APA format (title page, abstract page, and reference pages do not count towards the page count). A minimum of six (6) quality outside sources/resources are also required for this assignment. (Don’t forget to use the CWU library and online resources… they’re a HUGE help.) Please also source the course texts if/when you use them (I recommend using them).
Remember the introduction should tell the reader what the report will include, and the conclusion should summarize what was presented.
Pro tip: multinational corporations are VERY difficult to use for this assignment, as are tiny mom and pop shops. Recommend finding a WA-based company with 15-75 employees. Lots to choose from… It’s a dynamic state.
