Develop a question based on 1 of the 7 topics outlined in the lecture slides and above. This question should utilised the main topic area but then you should narrow this down to a question you find most interesting
Use DMU library and/or google scholar to identify 6 or more academic peer reviewed articles that will help answer your question and tell you about the topic.
The information in these articles is brought together in a discussion section to answer your question.
In your assessment tab, you have an academic resource booklet. You can download this and use this as a guide to breaking down the content of the articles.
Ensure that you collate the information from different articles
Structure of the Assessment
Introduction (500 words): You should introduce a background discussion on your question and chosen topic. So if your question is about domestic violence in the UK, you will want to incorporate some statistics, and a background on what this looks like. This will lead into your research question.
Methodology: (500)
Identify whether you are doing a systematic or critical literature review. Describe why you are doing one or the other
Give me a step by step guide of your library search plan. Tell me how you got your articles. Where were they collated. What key words did you use and why, What parameters did you use such as dates and why
Tell me why you searched only for peer reviewed articles. What is peer review and why is this important
Tell me how you brought together your articles. How did you go about finding the similarities and differences. Did you create a table to help organise your thoughts.
The above should lead into a discussion on how you identified your themes or key thematic area that set the foundation for your discussion.
You should discuss the ethics of a literature review.
