-Not encouraged to engage in
any sort of research with human participants (e.g., interviews, focus groups,
ethnographies, etc.) that would require their consent prior to the conduct of
the research. Recall also that primary research refers to first-hand data
collection by the researcher himself, whereas secondary research refers to data
collected by someone else earlier. As such, students are advised to conduct different sorts of
analyses (e.g., textual, discourse, content, semiotic, genre, etc.) on content
already available (e.g., films, literature, etc.).
