One must classify the Texas legend as pseudo folklore. Disguised as fact, it still plays a major role in Texas history. Under the guise of local pride, it appears in its most blatant forms in the ‘professional’ Texan” (44).
  • What do you think he means by this? How is the legend used for “practical purposes”? Why does he call it “pseudo folklore”? Explain.
