Step 2: Imagine that this play is now taking place in today’s society 

Step 3: Answer the following 3 questions from THAT CHARACTER’s Perspective AND with CONNECTION to the play.

  1. Your character now has a Twitter account. What is a message that they might send out into the Twitter world about what is happening with them? Explain why you chose this tweet.
  2. Your character also has a dating profile on Tinder. What do they have as their favourite book and song? Defend these choices using the play.
  3. Lastly, your character also has an Instagram account. Who are the TOP TWO people or groups that they follow? Defend these choices using the play. (NOTE: Using characters from the play will not award you full marks – try to be creative here)

EXAMPLE of a response:

The character ROGERIGO has a FACEBOOK account. He has recently unfriended Iago and posted the following on his wall:

“Why are people so two-faced? They pretend to be your friend only to get something out of you. Why can’t they want to do these things simply out of friendship. I have done terrible things all under the advisement of this supposed FRIEND. They implied that these actions would benefit me. In reality, they were only looking out for themselves. I was duped and taken advantage of and I feel ashamed. If you have ever been taken advantage of like this, like this post and share your experience”

Roderigo is taken advantage of by Iago. Iago needs his money for his own plan and uses Roderigo and his love for Desdemona to get it. By the end of the play, these are definitely some of the feelings that Roderigo would have towards Iago.
