Use the article, “Even more racially isolated than before: problematizing the vision for diversity in a racially mixed high school,” and Chapter 1 in Data Analysis for Continuous School Improvement, to answer the following questions
1. Average School USA analyzes data from the annual statewide assessment and chooses to target “bubble students” for intervention as a way of improving growth and achievement pass rates on tests. Assuming this data practice aligns with the school’s vision, what might be the vision statement for Average School USA? Conversely, if your school’s vision is “learning for all,” what sources of data might you use, and what might your data intervention practices encompass?
2. In the Brown High School study, the authors cite the school improvement plan as having good intentions but not going far enough. What might be some next steps for the school improvement team? What data might be helpful? What programs or interventions could be considered? How and when could the results be monitored?
