Purpose of Rhetorical Analysis:
Successful rhetorical analysis of a persuasive text will draw attention to the ways in which that text is constructed to have an effect upon its audience. This will mean examining the ways that text uses APPEAL strategies, linguistic devices, as well as how it is designed or composed (visually or through written structure). By drawing our attention to these elements, the rhetorical analysis will help the reader come to a fuller understanding of the text that we would have at first glance or reading. Furthermore, a successful rhetorical analysis will discuss the context in which this text exists – that is, looking outside of the text itself to the contexts (political, cultural, historical, commercial, etc) which have shaped it.
Audience for the essay:
You should write as if the reader of your essay has NOT seen or read the text which you are analyzing. This will mean you need to include enough specific detail and description so that your essay could be read on its own, without the reader encountering the persuasive text, and it should be comprehendible. (Think of the way a film review can be understood by a reader even if they’ve not yet seen the film being reviewed).
Format:
Use standard 12 pt. font, double-spaced pages, page numbers ,and a header with your last name on the top right, and a first page heading at the top left of page 1 which clearly indicates your name, which section you are in, the date and assignment title
Use Zelenskys speech to the russian citizens as reference with specific examples and indicate the rhetorical speech used(ethos, pathos, logos, etc…) and how the speech affected the audience. Talk about his emotion, how he makes threats at one point in the speech if peace isn’t met, and how he identifies himself as a citizen of Ukraine and not as the president in the beginning, just make it long and sound nice I need a great score.
