Final Research Paper – (EAST ASIAN CAPITALISM) – On the role of Language in the evolution of Capitalism in HONG KONG.

This research paper must be 10-12 pages in length. 

I have attached a document which is an early research proposal that I submitted for this final paper. Please carefully review the document and come back to this description.

Here is the feedback from my professor that I received with the early research proposal: 

“As defined, this is far too much to address in a 10 to 12 page paper; you will need to focus on the part of the issue you are most interested in exploring.  The readings are all useful, but seem to point in various different directions.  Language is clearly a key issue:  being fluent in English or Mandarin (preferably both) is far more lucrative than being a monolingual Cantonese speaker. The degree of regional integration, and its effect on HK, is a separate topic also well worth exploring (although one would need to consider post-2019 developments).  Since Hong Kong has changed significantly over time, it would probably be wise to focus on a particular period.”

From this feedback, I have decided to focus specifically on Language’s role in the evolution and growth of the Hong Kong economy at its peak. Please specifically pick a certain period to analyze and discuss. 

ONLY use the sources that are RELEVANT to this new research paper (from the proposal), if they are not relevant to this new topic, then I will need you to find new reliable sources.

Please be specific and explain points thoroughly throughout the essay. Again, try to maintain focus by only analyzing the role that language has played in helping Hong Kong become an economic powerhouse.
