Discussion Question
You will certainly notice one thing as you work on this organic chemistry module. It all starts and ends with carbon. Found in many forms as an element, and making compounds with its BFFs hydrogen and oxygen. We can easily say that carbon is almost as essential as water in order to maintain life.
In your initial post, answer the following:
Find an example of an organic molecule that is needed/used by living things. Post the following about this molecule:
- The elements it contains.
- It’s chemical formula.
- The type of organic compound it is.
- Its function in living things.
- No duplicate molecules please. Cite your sources.
Pick a molecule that is closely related in structure to the molecule your classmate chose. Describe whether its structure is similar or different to the original molecule.
