Forum: Discussion – Radio(paragraph one)
Let’s discuss the mass hysteria that ensued after Orson Welles’s Halloween night broadcast of War of the Worlds. Listen to the broadcast first, do a little research on the topic, and then discuss what happened.
How could people have believed this broadcast? How has this kind of fear happened in more recent times, perhaps at a smaller level? Give examples. What else would you like to discuss regarding the subject of radio and this particular radio broadcast? Can you thick of any radio hosts or shows today that thrive off of hysteria?
Forum: Discussion – TV(paragraph 2)
We read the chapter on TV last week. Do a little outside research to discuss the current trends in television viewership (as YouTube & TikTok compete with the originals cable vs streaming), technology and other related aspects, and discuss your educated hypothesis on the future of TV. What do you see happening? Any big changes upcoming? How will Internet streaming, Amazon, Netflix, Sling, DVRs and other current aspects of viewership affect TV? What is your current personal experience with watching TV? Has it changed and/or do you see it changing in the near future? Why or why not? (Do you find yourself watching more or less TV since the COVID-19 pandemic?)
