Gaps in Services for Seniors Living in British Columbia

Write a 4 page report, double-spaced approximately 250 words per page on the current issues facing seniors (65 plus) and

highlight themes in gaps and limitations  in services,  in British Columbia.

Provide statistical evidence of the number of seniors in Canada, BC and specifically Abbotsford.

Each student will  develop an understanding of the social, political, cultural, economic and environmental realities of a
particular marginalized community or group (seniors). The information will come from two sources: academic research
(statistical evidence) and community sources .
Students will initiate academic research as a starting point for developing their understanding of the chosen community.
Utilizing the information garnered from the research  students will write a report. The report includes a visual representation of the key social/political/cultural/ economic and environmental realities that are at play for the community chosen. Students should be mindful not to stereotype or draw conclusions about the community based on limited research and your
observation, but rather are encouraged to conceptualize the information collected as “point in time snapshotâ€ of the
community,.

Using headings, the primary themes should consist of:  social isolation; transportation; access to healthcare and gaps in
ervices that further compound theses themes.
