Topic: Has Social Media in the 21st century Created a More “Positive or “Negative Impact Globally?
A recent phenomena in our world is the revolution of social media websites like Facebook, Twitter, and Tick Tock, to name a few, that have brought us together across the globe. For the “better or for the “worse social media informs and effects us politically, socially, and economically. It is your task to analyze how social media has revolutionized our connectedness to politics, society, and the economy on a global scale.

Take Note: As Research Paper II is unique, take note of the following: You must research and include the thesis and all of the topics I list below in the directions. OPTIONAL: In addition, if you choose, you may shape this research paper however you may wish. You may choose in addition to the thesis and topics in directions, to analyze for example: “Gender Gaps around the Globe + “Psychological/Emotional Impact of Social Media Globally This is just an example. Anything else you choose must be topical to “social media and “globalization and must be discussed with the professor for approval prior to submitting the research paper.

1. “Hook: The first sentence or quote of the introduction is meant to capture the reader’s attention to the topic. It must be focused. A very good way to begin is with a quote from the primary source or secondary sources (a scholarly quote).
2. Thesis you must ARGUE: The following paper will analyze how social media in the twenty-first century has created a more “positiveâ€ OR more “negativeâ€ global network of human connectivity socially, politically, and economically. Next: Give an overview of the topics covered in body paragraphs.
3. Body Paragraphs:
A. Social
• How has social media connected us socially around the globe?
• Has this been more “positive or more “negative effects?
• Must Give at least one Example(s) with explanation and evidence Example: Ukrainians use of social media increased awareness and action to aid Ukraine – yes, you may use this example if you wish. B. Death of Mahsa Amini by Iranian police spark protest that has been captured in social media – what were the effects of this and how did Iranian government react? – again you may use this if you wish. C. Video on twitter capture Shanghai Covid-19 lockdown – people in apartment screaming
B. Politics
• How has social media influenced us politically?
• Has this been more “positive or more “negative?
• Example: Social media platforms, like Facebook and Twitter, have made headlines for influencing the political news we view on their platforms as well as employing censorship against political messages they disapprove. Research this, explain it, and utilize a news article about this. Argue if this is, again, a “positive or “negative consequence of the social media platforms. – yes, you may use this example if you wish.
C. Economics
• How has social media changed the platform for small businesses and consumers?
• Has this been a more “positive or more negative experience? Why?
• Optional: You may, if you choose, use this article to inform you: file:///C:/Users/wgiug/Downloads/125965776.pdf

Conclusion: Summarize your findings and prove your thesis.
College Level Writing

This is the standard I expect to see in your term papers for the course. These are also general guidelines for any college level paper.

Font and Format: Times New Roman, 12 pt, Black ink. No bold or italics. Only use Italics for citing the title of a book. Double spaced. Indent for new paragraphs. Do not use extra spaces. After you have finished the paragraph, Enter once and tab once to begin a new paragraph. Do not change the indentation.

Cover page: This is the very first page. Go to the center of the page. Write the title of the paper, your first and last name, the course title, course #, Professor’s first and last name, and the date. This can be bolded and a little bit of a bigger font. Like 14 or 16 pt. There is no page number on the cover page.

Page #s: Go to the bottom of the page in the footer. Write your last name, # of the page. Example: Little, 1. You do not repeat the information from the cover page in the header.

Structure: Introduction with thesis, Body Paragraphs, Conclusion (see page 7 for more information)

Grammar and Spelling: Double check your spelling and grammar. Go to the Learning Cetner and the Professor for help. Any rough drafts you want the Professor to look at must be submitted at least a week in advance. Anything later than this will not be reviewed.

If you are writing about the past, then your grammar should be in the past tense. I expect formal writing. In other words, please do not write as if you are writing a text message/IM/Twitter message to a friend.

Quotes: Only use quotes to support an argument or point you are trying to make. You should use quotes from primary and secondary sources.
