history Unit II Discussion

Learning Goal: I’m working on a history discussion question and need the explanation and answer to help me learn.

Choose one topic for you to answer for your post. Remember to write about 250 words with support from the text or other sources. You may reply to another student in any topic but try to avoid “me too” posts or grading another student’s post. Think of it as a conversation where you are building on another student’s point or points. Try to continue the discussion in some way by bringing up new information or examples etc. The Think Like a Historian activities are not required for a grade but may be helpful in terms of information or approaches to these questions.

Two posts (one well-sourced, informative post and one substantial response post) is the minimum to score over a 70

Discussion Post topics:

1. What impact did the social reformers of the late nineteenth century have on American life? Consider their impact on women’s rights, consumer protection, political participation, health and safety, and environmental protections. Be specific! You can also just pick one or two of these and go into detail.

OR

2. Discuss some of the impacts of World War I on American foreign policy, race relations, ethnic tensions, freedom of speech, women’s rights, labor’s struggles, and the influenza epidemic. The Century video may be helpful here. You can also just pick one or two of these and go into detail.
