Hi Siddharth,
This looks really great so far. I’m interested in your solution and agree that there have been housing-first success stories that could serve as models. I’m less clear on the details you have in mind when you talk about support services that address root causes. I know that one of the issues with this kind of approach is that it takes time and money and space to create the needed housing. Your point about long-term benefits and reductions in homelessness-related expenses outweighing initial investment could be an important piece of persuading an audience to get on board. I think it will also be important to consider what innovations could be involved in imagining your solutions. I wonder if you might find this article interesting as some useful background reading: https://calmatters.org/housing/2023/06/austin-tiny-homes-california/Links to an external site.
I think it’ll be important that you inform yourself as much as possible regarding what initiatives and efforts are already in effect and/or in the midst of implementation before you settle into describing the solution you intend to propose.
I think it will be important to keep thinking about scope. Are you focused on working locally? At the state level?
Looking forward to seeing how this develops!
