Students will be required to complete a short essay between four (4) and five (5) pages. The essays should be double-spaced in 12-point Times New Roman with standard one-inch margins. Your essay should include a cover page, an introductory paragraph clearly articulating your argument, your actual argument with examples (3-4 paragraphs), and a concluding paragraph that summarizes the points made in the prior sections of the paper. All references should be cited according to the American Psychology Association (APA) style (7th edition) in author-date format with a separate reference section located at the end of the essay. It is recommended that you consult the citation guides provided here. I won’t grade the essay if its similarity report is higher than 20% on Turnitin. It can be viewed as plagiarism in academic writing if the percentage of match view is higher than 20%. It is not a good idea to directly cite others’ work, you may want to use your own words and rewrite the part you cited. Essay questions will be distributed in Week 6 and students will be required to submit their final answers one week later in Week 7 (by 11:59 pm on 02/24/2023). The essay will count as 20% of your final grade. A grading rubric will be provided. Late essays will be accepted for up to five calendar days after the original due date. A penalty of 5% will be applied for each day that the assignment is due within the three calendar days window. Any essay submitted after three calendar days will be subjected to an additional penalty of 10% for each additional day through five calendar days. No late essays will be accepted more than five calendar days after the essay was due.
