In a 3-4 page paper discuss how your own personal history has shaped your view on something you experienced in your everyday life (keep in mind this is a social something) – views about race, class, gender, drug use, education, marriage, the law, gender identity, etc. Over the course of the semester, have you recognized any limitations in your thinking regarding this experience? In other words, did you interpret the experience differently than you may have before using the sociological perspective? Explain.
TIP: It’s important that you address every prompt here. Sometimes students omit the part about recognizing limitations in their thinking. We all experience this based on our socialization. I’m asking you to examine yourself through the sociological perspective and address what were you taught about (insert experience here)? Next, in recognizing your limited experiences and thinking about _________, has your view changed? Discuss.

This is a sociology paper. Don’t forget to use the sociological perspective as well as terms, concepts and theories where appropriate.
Keep in mind that it’s your job to inform your reader. Careful not to term drop (as I call it). If you’re using a term, concept or theory, assume the reader knows nothing. Share what you know!
This is an informal reflection paper. No research is required. If you use someone else’s ideas or direct quotes, though, you must cite them.
Your paper should stem from the micro-perspective.
