HRMN467 Case Study Part 3

Case Study Part 3 (25 pts)

This is a continuation of Case Study Part 2. If you need to refresh the background information on CHF and Project Picasso, please read the Case Study under the Content tab.

Scenario:

CHF’s HR Director Emma Hill is in CEO Jeremy Garcia’s office again this morning to discuss Project Picasso. Jeremy first praises Emma for a job well done in conducting last week’s CHF employee training. He then wants Emma to provide him with a training plan that is specifically designed for Project Picasso.

Another task that Jeremy wants Emma to take a lead on is to develop a performance appraisal method for Project Picasso to evaluate the club manager in Barcelona. Once again, that newly created Competency Model can serve as a guideline in performance evaluation.

Emma then wants to discuss with Jeremy about providing support to the new club manager working in Barcelona. Emma understands that Jeremy is committed to giving full support to the soon-to-be expatriate before, during, and after the assignment in Barcelona, but she feels a bit overwhelmed about the scope of the support and what should be included.

Jeremy explains that providing full support is not only CHF’s Duty of Care but also follows the company’s long tradition of always taking care of its employees since the company’s founding. Regarding the specific support, Jeremy tells Emma that his brother Jim is a retired Air Force veteran. Jeremy remembers that when Jim and his family lived in Germany for a while and then moved back to the U.S., they received a lot of support during that time from the Airman & Family Division which helped them tremendously. That reminds Emma that her brother-in-law, a Navy sailor, once mentioned to her that U.S. Navy has a similar program called Fleet and Family Readiness. She will check out those programs and learn more about them.

Emma tells Jeremy that she has scheduled a meeting with the independent HRM consultant this afternoon to discuss all these issues and will give Jeremy a report by Friday.

When leaving Jeremy’s office after the meeting, Emma feels more confident and is very proud of how Project Picasso is coming together through the hard work of all her colleagues. She is looking forward to the afternoon’s meeting with the consultant and continues to push Project Picasso forward.
