literary essay
Your essay must be 5-7 pages in length and have five paragraphs, including an introductory paragraph, three body paragraphs, and a concluding paragraph. Your essay must include a clear thesis with three clear arguments that are supported with evidence from the novel.
– thesis must elaborate on your chosen topic and make an original argument that you will prove throughout your paper.
– must ensure that your thesis does not simply summarize the topic. You do not want to write a summary statement. Your essay must include three quotations from the novel, with one quotation being used in each body paragraph to support each argument while using the proper essay format.
- Each argument must have 2 supporting points (1 of these points will be your chosen quotation the other will be either a second quotation or a paraphrased example that further proves your point)
– This is a formal essay, therefore no personal pronouns (I, we, us) or contractions (can’t, wouldn’t, don’t) are permitted.
- When referring to the novel you must use present tense (Saul goes to the hockey rink not Saul went to the hockey rink)
- Your essay should incorporate transition words and various sentence structures to enhance the overall organization and flow of your writing.
– Your essay must be in proper MLA format (including size 12 Times New Roman font, 1 inch margins, double-spaced, embedded citations, etc) and include an MLA formatted Works Cited page.
- Develop a creative title for your essay to catch the reader’s attention.
– You’re not allowed to use any website or source other than the original source text
