1. Choose a mental health issue that you would like to explore and can take a position on. The issue could come from your experiences in the clinical setting, personal experience, or simply from your own interest about a mental health issue.

2. Research the issue and formulate your position. You must use at least three (3) sources that will be cited in your paper. These could include nursing or mental health journals, textbooks, or mental health web sites.
3. Write a four (4) to five (5) page paper, not including the title or reference pages. Double space the type, use 12 font and one-inch margins, number the pages.
4. Follow the grading rubric and include the following in your paper:
a. Describe the purpose of the paper, the issue, and your position.
b. Explain why your position is important and the relevance of your position to nursing practice.
c. Describe what has contributed to this issue.
d. State specific recommendations that support your position and improve nursing practice, the life of the concerned parties and society. Consider recommendations that might include advocacy at the legislative level, financial funding for resources, delivery of nursing and other interdisciplinary care, reduction of stigma at the local, state or national level.
e. Describe your interprofessional team and how they will implement your recommendations.
f. Include a summary and concluding paragraph.
g. Utilize proper grammar and APA formatting.
