Report 8 – 15 pts (RR: Research Report) – by 8am on Tuesday, 04/11
Dear POLI 431 Class:
As you know well, in order to have a good assignment report, you need to well manage your time to complete reading or watching lectures, doing research, constructing a summary (OD: Objective Description), and developing your thoughts (SA: Subjective Analysis).
“College writing assignments can cause stress, and students often find themselves putting their writing assignments off until the last minute, leading them to rush through their work, leaving insufficient time for revision.”
Grades on late reports will be deducted by 5 points every 30 minutes // This assignment is for 15 pts and due by 8am on 04/11.
As always, should you have any questions and/or concerns, please let me know. I’ll assist you at once.

Watch the linked lecture and write a critical review report. Your report should address two realms; 1) a summary of main discussions of the lecture (this process is an objective description) and 2) your reflective opinion on the discussions (this process is a subjective interpretation / analysis).
Grading criteria : command of topic (3pts); analytic development (3 pts); organization (3 pts); syntactic variety and language (3 pts); & control of mechanics (3 pts):
(15 pts; between 1000 and 1250 words for this report)
Objective Description – about 500 words
Subjective Analysis-about 500 words
Please refer to the “Writing Assessment Rubrics” announcement
Please keep in mind that:
1) Summary of main arguments = objective description (OD)
2) Your reflection on the arguments = subjective analysis (SA) or subjective interpretation
Writing an “objective description (OD)” is to summarize the reading objectively and value-freely, while writing a “subjective analysis (SA)” is to create your own analysis with your own words.
