Students will choose from the prompts listed below and write a maximum of 2000 word research paper which incorporates both primary and secondary sources to argue a specific, academic viewpoint. After receiving an initial grade, students will have one week to improve upon the original product based on the comments provided. Successful improvement results in a maximum increase of two grade levels for this assignment (if the initial grade is a B- you can receive up to a B+).
Guidelines:
The maximum word count is 2000 words
The paper can go over this maximum word count by 10% without penalty
Any paper longer than 2200 words will be penalized 5%
The argument of the paper must utilize both primary and secondary source material and take a clear, consistent, and academic stand on the issue
Either footnotes or parenthetical citations must be used consistently throughout the paper
