the social and political impacts of the militarization of public security in
Latin America. Be sure to talk at least one country case, and the military
response to both illicit drugs and oil, and answer all parts to the question
Please
read these additional instructions carefully before starting your exam:
1.)
Materials: Students can draw from course
content from the beginning of the course, but the main focus should be on
materials covered after the midterm. DO NOT cite any outside sources on this exam. Also, DO NOT include personal
anecdotes. The main goal of a final exam is to evaluate mastery of
course content.
2.)
Citations: No formal bibliography is
required, but students should identify authors by last name (DO NOT write out titles)
when they bring in specific ideas, arguments, or concepts. Do NOT cite the course lectures.
Lectures are designed to explain and discuss reading materials, which are the
primary sources of information.
3.)
Paraphrase: DO NOT rely on any direct quotes. Paraphrase using your own
words to show understanding.
4.)
Answer
the question: Directly
respond the question asked and answer all parts of the question.
Including extraneous materials in your response will make your essay longer but
will negatively impact the grade. Be on point. Remember that the exam is
designed to evaluate familiarity with course content. An attentive student can
identify which course materials are relevant, and which are not. If you’ve
forgotten, start with the syllabus schedule, which organizes all course
materials into themes and topics.
5.)
Explain: Provide complete, precise, and accurate definitions
and explanations for concepts and theories that you cite. It is not enough to
mention relevant materials. The goal is to demonstrate understanding.
