As an MBA student and future (or perhaps even current) leader of an organization, it is important to understand how current events could impact their businesses for good or bad. Leaders need to develop the habit of regularly checking and engaging with current events in order to make the best decisions for their organization.
Therefore, in an effort to encourage this habit, you will find an article in a recent edition of the Wall Street Journal that relates to one of the topics we have covered thus far (i.e., economics, ethics, social responsibility, international business, small businesses, entrepreneurship, franchising, etc.). The article you find should contain real-world applications of one (or more) of the topics above.
Specifics for your submission:
Write-ups for this assignment should be two pages, double-spaced, in 12-point Times New Roman font, APA format, and 1-inch margins.
Summarize the main points of the article
Apply the article to a business issue.
For example, if the article was about increasing trade tariffs, the application could be this restriction on free trade will impact imports/ exports. Or, if the article is about rising interest rates or inflation, the application could be a decline in home purchases.
If you want to tie the application to your current employer is also fine. For example, if you work at Wal-Mart, you could discuss how restrictions on free trade may increase prices and, thus, lower sales. Or how rising inflation will hurt consumer purchasing power which may decrease profits, etc.
Include the title of your article and the date the article was published at the top, along with a link to the article.
Your submission should be a Word document.
DO NOT PLAGIARIZE & DO NOT USE AI PROGRAMS TO WRITE YOUR ESSAY – if you use direct wording/ quotes from the article, be sure to put them in “quotation marks.”
