Topic: Lincoln and His Love Life
Discuss Abraham Lincoln as he was able to relate to women in general, focusing in particular on the three women with whom he had the closest relationships. Explain in your opinion what might account for his awkwardness and shyness around women and show how his relationship with these three women demonstrates his problems.

In this course, you will write a brief research paper on an aspect of Abraham Lincoln’s life or career. The purpose of the assignment is to familiarize you with research methods and library resources in addition to supporting the course objectives of building a basic understanding of Lincoln’s life and influence and developing an awareness of the key national issues of Lincoln’s day.
Due: On or before the last day of class. REFER TO THE SYLLABUS FOR ALL DUE DATES.
Stylistic Guidelines: Your paper should be typed, double-spaced, 12-point font, and 4-6 pages in length. YOUR MARGIN SHOULD BE NO MORE THAN 1” on any side. You must use at least three credible sources in addition to your texts. Your texts are acceptable, reliable sources, but they are not enough to complete the assignment. YOU MUST RESEARCH YOUR TOPIC using library resources. IF you use internet sources, you must be certain that you have chosen a credible, academically responsible source. Improper sources will have a significant negative impact on your grade. If you have questions about your sources, please ask. DO NOT use Wikipedia, History.com, or similar “pop” history sites under any circumstances. We will discuss how to find sources in class.
