1)Good evening Professor & Class, Of all 4 main managerial functions in criminal justice organizations I believe

leading is the most important because if there are not good leaders in any group then nothing will be in order. In the case of Tyre Nichols who was murdered over a month ago by 5 black police officers there was no leadership in bringing order, had one of the officers took the lead role into letting the other officers know what they were doing was wrong Mr. Nichols would have been alive today. The same with George Floyd if one of those officers took the lead then Mr. Floyd would have been alive as well. In my opinion good leadership is the key to any successful organization.

Organizational behavior is the study of individuals interactions within a work or business environment. Within a company individuals must collaborate with each other. Their behavior within the organization must be up to standard. For example should an officer with no experience of a managerial position be placed within the organization to carry out work orders. This officer will have to read the manuals and observe other officers before he can do his job properly.

2)I believe that all four organization behaviors wouldn’t be able to function without one another. Leading function in my opinion would be the most important. My reasoning is that no matter how much planning, organization, or controlling happens, without leading it would not be able to work. Anyone has the ability to plan, organize, and control but without leadership none of it would work. Leading helps it all run appropriately.

Understanding the organization behavior helps the agency understand the responsibility and accountability so that the assigned tasks and good patterns and good practices are formed. It can also set the tone of the organization to get positive outcomes. This is where the leading function comes into play. An example would be an organization that is implementing a new process to help reduce complaints against the agency. Leadership puts into play a plan and organize how it will work and control how it will be released to the agency. Leading by upper management helps it all work and ensures a positive attitude across the board. If leadership is positive about the new process, then everyone will work together.
