The final thesis paper is your culminating work after a semester-long investigation of a public health issue and will reflect your ability to evaluate, analyze and synthesize scholarly sources in arriving at your thesis statement. Keep in mind that unlike other documents, your intention will be included in the introduction, and the entire document will build to support your thesis statement.
The thesis document will include the Introduction, Literature Review, Solutions and Recommendations, and Conclusion
Content Criteria:
- Title Page
- Including signed honor pledge
- Introduction
- Issue/topic being explored
- Global context/relevance
- Public health relevance
- Intention for paper/identification of gap in literature
- Thesis statement
- Literature Review
- The literature to support your intention and your thesis statement
- The literature review should end with a short conclusion/summary.
- Proposed Solutions and Recommendations
- At least two (2) proposed solutions/recommendations to ameliorate or better the public health. Some examples of solutions:
Health professionals or organizations should implement diversity trainings that delve deeper into understanding both types of cultures and others.
Health professionals should work with health and spiritual professionals of various backgrounds to get a better understanding of other cultures, so they can better service their patients.
Holistic therapy should be made available in more areas of medicine.
- These solutions must also be supported by literature (scholarly work).
- At least two (2) proposed solutions/recommendations to ameliorate or better the public health. Some examples of solutions:
- Conclusion
- Include a short conclusion paragraph to summarize/reiterate your main points and how you addressed your thesis statement.
- Include your issues’ impact on the public’s health, and what we should do as public health officials moving forward.
- References
- All references cited in the paper must be APA format and should be included in the reference section.
- No references that were not cited in the paper should be included.
Format Criteria:
- Font Size, Spacing and Margins
- 12 point Times New Roman
- Double-spaced
- 1 inch margins on all sides
- Length
- 18 pages in length (not including references or title page)
- Proper APA Format Throughout
- Title page, header, headings, font size, font type, double-spaced, in-text citations,
- Number of references
- greater than or equal to 25 scholarly sources
Stylistic Expectations:
- Clear, logical writing throughout
- Proper grammar, referencing, and organization
- Scholarly writing voice
- Primary sources will be the principal material used throughout the paper
- The paper will reflect a deep synthesis of the subject. In other words, the paper will be an integration of many articles and demonstrate a real understanding of the thesis
