An HRIS is not a small addition to an organization’s plan, as it simplifies the process of analyzing human resources (HR) data and helps in making effective decisions. Selling an HRIS plan to an executive committee when spending money is involved can be difficult. Presenting a business case helps to tackle this challenge. The purpose of this assignment is for you to gain experience in preparing a business case with the sole purpose of gaining buy-in to implement an HRIS.
You’ve now completed research on HRIS applications and an RFP for Hello Technology! Corporation. It’s now time to write a business case using the scenario and the information you’ve previously found. Keep in mind the business case must address the company’s need for growth and salaries currently used and how an HRIS is beneficial. Keep the following information in mind as you create your business case:
Hello Technology! Corporation is a medium-sized company in the technology industry. It would like to implement an HRIS and needs your help. The company has 300 employees in three locations in the United States. The company has plans to grow 50% over the next three years. Currently, Hello Technology! Corporation utilizes Excel and Word for keeping track of employee files, payroll, and total compensation. Annually, the company spends $50,000 for the HR Department for the salary of one HR employee, who maintains the employee records. There is an accounts payable clerk who makes $45,000 a year and works on Payroll 2 days per week.

It is now time to prepare your final business case paper. You may use information from prior assignments. However, please note this is not a copy/paste or assemble all previous assignments into one. Remember your audience. For your business case paper, address the following:
- Outline and quantify your reasons for choosing an HRIS
- Identify chances for improvement with implementing the chose HRIS application (you selected an HRIS in module 3).
- Define its benefits and its limitations and how the HRIS enhances business throughout the company.
- Establish your case
- In module 3, you compared and contrasted at least two HRIS applications and selected one. Now, use a second HRIS as an alternative and define its benefits and limitations.
- Include current HR scenarios and explain alternative outcomes that would become possible through implementing an HRIS for recruiting, selecting, and training. Think of items such as risks (with and without the HRIS), development time, delays, costs and skills training.
- Include ROI data (you may obtain this from the vendors’ websites) for both your selected HRIS and the alternative.
- Planning
- Include an anticipated timeline for implementing an HRIS. Think of who will need to be involved, such as IT, other HR personnel for training employees, etc.
- Conclusion
- Provide a summary of the most succinct points for implementing an HRIS.
