Outline the Context and the Importance of the Problem and the Pre-Existing Policies, Policy Options, and the Research sections
- In a Word document, copy and paste your thesis statement at the top of the page.
- Then copy and paste the seven required section headings in your Word document (see below).
- Next build a general outline of your capstone research paper, which lays out summary statements of the information that you will include in your final paper. Think “big picture” with the outline, for example, describe the general themes that you will use as guides to write an entire paragraph or set of paragraphs. At the end of Unit 4 on pages 83-87 there is a sample outline for you to generally follow, but I want you to build an outline that conforms with the seven sections common to policy reports (again, see below). In your outline, I want you to focus most of your time outlining the section Pre-Existing Policies, Policy Alternatives, and the Research, as it should be, by far, the longest section in your capstone paper. (However, I do want you to also develop, in outline form, the section Context and the Importance of the Problem, which precedes the Pre-Existing Policies… section).
- Lastly, include the Problem Statement that you already drafted under the section Context and the Importance of the Problem, but in outline form, add bullet points that denote the remaining themes of this section.
Required Sections of the Capstone Research Paper (with the approximate page length of each section for the final paper):
Title Page
Executive Summary (1/2 page – 1 page)
Context and the Importance of the Problem (2-3 pages)
Pre-Existing Policies, Policy Alternatives, and Research (5-7 pages)
Conclusion (1/2 page)
Policy Recommendations (2-3 pages)
References (Variable)
USE PAGES 99-116 for refrences (book attached in documents)
Thesis and problem statment located in attached documents
