In your midterm essay you were essentially asked to compose the first half of a qualitative research proposal based on what you had learned from the textbook. For your final essay, you will finish your proposal and assimilate your previous work into a polished project. This is not a copy and paste assignment. Rather, you will briefly restate what you had written for your midterm and then include additional information to complete a suitable proposal. Your final essay will be 7-9 pages and must include 5-7 resources including the textbook. See the following outline for necessary sections:
Introduction
Restate your problem and research questions
Restate your chosen method and applicable theory
Restate your case selection
Identify your sample and your population
Identify your chosen sampling strategy with scholarly support
Explain how you plan to execute the fieldwork associated with your hypothetical study
What types of notes, recordings, or other gathered data will be used
What data analysis technique(s) will you use and justify how this/these are appropriate given your method
Hypothesize as to what you would expect to find from analyzing your data
Identify potential limitations of your proposed study based on your selected case selection, methods, and data analysis techniques.
Conclusion
Your paper should utilize sound critical thought, liberally refer to and cite course materials, and be written in APA-format (to include a title page, abstract, properly formatted in-text citations and a reference page). Make sure that you use properly APA formatted subheadings in your work clearly demarcating the aforementioned sections.
Remember that this is a hypothetical research proposal, and you will in no way, shape, or form be gathering data in a real-world context. Also, you do not have to make-up elaborate data for content analyses or coding schemes. You are simply building on your midterm and completing a qualitative proposal.
